After the theft of my C456 a few weeks ago I was bikeless. This caused me alot of trouble as I do not drive and relied upon the bike for commuting.
So I asked a good mate if he could loan me his bike, namely the Alpine 160. He said yes and said "you can buy it if you want" he told me the price and without hesitation I said yes.
The bike is completley different to the C456 as that bike was a point and shoot with great climbing and desending capabilities aswell as long distance riding. Namley a 90 mile ride from the Wirral to Llandegla and back.
I've been riding the Alpine for just under 2 weeks now and I am impressed by the climbing of it, sure the 16kg weight is alot but this will help once I buy another HT.
It gives you great confidence in downhill sections which is good but I do not want to push myself to quick to soon.
Will end this on a good note though, the scum who robbed my bike has been arrested amd I have had returned the following;
Wheels (pro 2 evo hubs, mavic 317 and nukeproof rims)
Sektor forks
Hope v2 brakes.
So my next build will be a little cheaper
Thanks for reading.

Very nice bikes.i bet your gutted the 456 was pinched.i have one and its a cracking bike.good luck on your next build.0
-
Really like the orange and nice to hear that another thieving scumbag is of the street shame bike theft is not punishable by hanging though.0
-
Thanks Lee, hopefully more will turn up.
I was bigcoose, literally like WTF I am I going to do????
I agree on the hanging! Was awkward standing next to him knowing the scum bag robbed it.
Had a nice XC 25 mile on it last night, hard graft aswell lol. AVG speed was poop at 10mph.0 -
Hopefully my fitness is on the up now, been slugging this around for some XC riding. Needless to say it is a heavy sod.
50+ miles done last night to Delamere and back.
Got an uplift booked for May so not sure what to fully expect.0 -
Bit of an update.
Back in April I snapped the frame while on a road ride with a local cycle club called Palefish.
It split near the pivot point and I didn't notice till 8-10 miles later. With that I was gutted, lucky for me I was near my mates house who I bought the bike off. The bike had 4 weeks left on the warrenty so we sent it back, took till last week for a replacement frame to be sent to me (2013 Alpine 160)
So with that I built it up Thursday night, had an awful time setting the X9 front mech but other than that it was ok.
dog inspected it...
Built it up...
Went for a ride....
Top of a DH section....
Log of the trip...
Had no leg cramps which was good.
Planning on either selling the frame if I get a good enough offer on it. Reason bein the trips I like riding are not as nippy as I would like them to be.
Thanks for reading

77 miles! Fair play! I can imagine it's hard work on a bike like that! If I thought I could offer you enough, I'd have your hand off for it, but alas I'm pretty broke. Looks awesome anyway.0

Cool, where abouts? Was it by B-Line where I fell off or another part lol.
ILD, is hard work was tired at the end of it. Still 16st so am dragging alot of beef lol0 -

With the help of lots of food and drink mate, the ride home was tough when near Penyfford.0
-
-
Ah cool, I take it you saw the ambulance near the diversion aswell?
Turns out the lad had broke his ankle after the very long board walk0 -
Yeah, we ended up being diverted up onto the blue/ green. Had a bit of a play in the skills area then went for a burger!0
-
Never been up the diverted area, wasn't to bad a route.
Went for a local shop ride on Tuesday and had alot of chain slip so decided to refresh the chain, cassette, middle ring.
Got them all from CycleSurgery in Bromborough for just over £70.
Fitted them last night and it is now all silky smooth.
Old chain was abit worn....
Off to the Clwyds for abit of climbing work as I have registered to ride the Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool 100 mile ride which I will be using the Alpine to do.
Will be in aid of a friends son who suffers from Duchennes which is a muscle disorder only found in boys, he is only aged 3 and has a life expectancy of around 10-110 -
Cool bike, and very impressed how much mileage you do on it.
I have to ask, how the hell did you crack an alpine while road riding?0 -
By doing a silly jump, more bunny hop landed abit off centre and it must of sheared the alloy near the bearings.
Cheers, been increasing the distance over the last 12 months. Just try and grind it out as opposed to bein the fastest rider.
Plus the views we have around here make the effort well worth it.
Off out now, planned on riding the Clwyd trail and see how I am feeling may venture across to Llandegla if the weather is ok.0 -
Bit of an update really, changed the forks to Lyrik RC2DH. Front end feels great now, also changed the stem to a Hope 50mm x 25degree so the turn in is quicker.
Tyres are now Minions which are ok.
Only bad part is the Deemax rear axle snapping twice in 6 months at a cost of £65 each I am contemplating gettin a modified axle made to retro fit Hope end pieces.0 -

why did you have to pay a second time?0 -
I bought the first axle from bikeparts.de so no warranty due to me fitting it.
This second axle at the time being is still in once piece so will be preparing for a snap just incase.0 -
