They were good when they started - I remember voting on the dave fanning show as to what songs they should have on their first ep - but after Boy, it all went down hill :D

Here's a reminder of when they were great.....best track of the 'Boy' LP

I saw U2 very early at The Rock Garden in Covent Garden, a truly fantastic evening in an underground club on a hot summers night in 1982 (I think) It actually rained indoors that night and they were brilliant, I thought I'd seen the future.....I next saw them at Live Aid, they were terrible and already had disappeared up their own arses!!!

I saw them ages ago - they were the band on the Titanic. Whinged a lot when it sank. Typical U2 - U Bend more like. Play some of their stuff on my grammaphone.

Never mind them, anyone else remember Manchester glam/punk outfit V2?

Thought not  I liked 'em

Saw very early U2 a couple of times, but thought "War" was shite, and gave up on them from then on

So a rock band have critically acclaimed albums followed by some/a lot of mediocre releases and you lot slag them off.

Clearly all jealous of their musical ability (aka money).

Saw them at Murrayfield circa 1987. Brilliant concert by an excellent band.

PS Rumour has it that Bono has a Pinarello on his Turbo trainer.

Im not sure people are really knocking them, I am most certainly not for sure. I am also not jealous of their money, the only thing I hate about people with money is those that do not spend it, there are so many who would have a great time with money given the chance that those who dont spend it should lose it :)

I am not jealous of anybody's money. But Bono comes across as a hypocritical tosser. He wants to spend everyone else's money bar his own. He wants Governments, including his own, to wipe the slate clean with developing countries, but salts his money abroad to reduce his tax liability.
There are people in the world with even more money than Bono and good luck to them. I don't care if they earned it or inherited it. Just don't tell me how to spend mine.

I think a lot of people feel the way you do, especially when African governments were taxing the money paid into these charities at upto 90% !!!
I've often found the whole scenario hypocritical and firmly believe that if I am to donate anything it is done with a pure heart and free from corporate responsibility.
If you give a pound, a pound should be received.

And, as you quite rightly say, if someone wants governments to wipe clean slates owed then they should be morally responsible for their own finances in the country that affords them the luxuries given.
Money earns in England should be takes in England no matter what. I despise the ability to place money outside of the UK which is why I also believe taxation should be done in a way that makes it viable to do that which at the minute is not the case.
