Good God man, don't be arguing with him.

Lombardy is a great race let down by it's position in the calendar.

Not really it seems to be a straight forward presentation but what is not clear is where this Pearl of "Wisdom" comes from.

PS. give up LL and read it again

It's a pretty race. But nobody starts the year looking forward to Lombardy do they? Once the Vuelta is over then there's fek all to look forward to so we all pretend Lombardy is an exciting race...

It's a *good race* but it's not AAA+ is it?

Be honest but Paris - Roubaix is also.

In all races it's the riders that give it the rating. (yes I've been to PR a few times and had the magic feeling)

Where’s San Sebastian? It should be category 1.
Also the Eschborn-Frankfurt GP should be there, as 2 or 3.

If Tirreno-Adriatico makes group 1, then the Tour de Romandie and the Amstel should too, the Fleche Wallonne as well. If for Iain, the Tirreno-Adriatico only made to group 1 based on this year’s race, under normal circumstances, all four above should be in group 2.

All the TTs are overrated and should relegated at least a level.

Whether anyone likes it or not, the Tour of Poland should be in group 2 and the Tour of Austria in group 3 instead of the Tour of Britain.
And Ghent-Wevelgem and the Olympic RR moved up from 3 to 2.

Vattenfall should be in 3, the Peking Tour as well, if only for future relevance, and Oman too, as practically the season beginning.

Anyway, the list is a form of trolling.

The list was created over a year ago so it's not based on this years races.

GW is the original forum chipper so it keeps its pride of place

It's one of my favourite Classics, as I say it's position in the season no longer does it any favours though as so many riders miss it.

I bet the Lombardy start list has more of the top 50 ranked riders than either Flanders or Roubaix.

Lombardy is one of my fav races, top riders, good racing, excellent scenery, proper history, what's not to like? It's definitely one of THE races of the year in my book.

Olympic RR's are one-offs, I'd not put the London course above Lombardy (FACT: best race in the world)...

well I wouldn't call that olympic rr a chipper

By the rules, the very nature of it being the Olympic road race makes it a chipper. A good one mind, but still a chipper.

Boardman was just saying he looked through Olympic RR courses back to the 60s and this one is the hardest.

For the record I think this chipper thing is daft.

I think if a flat GT stage is in the 2nd group then the Olympic RR needs to be promoted.
There are probably about 80 odd flat stages (not rolling breakaway stages) per Olympic RR.
