British Cycling shop, not so good deals

I joined British Cycling and one of the offers were the promise of the cheapest prices for parts at wiggle but ive checked a few things now and wiggle will sell the item for non members at the same price as BCC members.
When you log in to wiggle site you get a price of 6700 cassette 11-28 for £44.99 yet in BCC it is the same price although they show 36% discount from the stock retail price which is a bit unfair as there is zero benefit for being a member.

think you will find that you get 12% discount with the bc discount so if it already discounted over that 12% you will not get it any cheaper but if only 10% or less off you will get that extra %.0

Pretty much yes. And you can usually get most stuff cheaper than wiggle if you just look around. I didn't join BC for a few % off bits in a shop.0

It wasnt the reason I joined either, I didnt want it to sound like that, I just thought that the discount wasnt so sincere.Living MY dream.0

Both of those replies are spot on.
This however...

I know you are trying to get me to bite which although childish is something im happy to play with you.
My comment was aimed at the supposed saving on the online shop, not the membership in general. I joined as soon as I bought my bike, more than many people do on here so please remember that.Living MY dream.0 -
The discount I receive on my bike insurance more than pays for my BC membership. The Wiggle discount is unnecessary as I'll always be platinum with Wiggle.
The 12% is quite useful on those essential items that never go on sale (there are actually quite a few).English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0 -

Can be a pain in the bum, but sometimes you just need to shop smart with Wiggle as they change their pricing and sometimes a good deal is not as good as you could get elsewhere but other times it is pretty good, plus they offer a free no quibble returns option.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0

i did and still do use wiggle a fair bit, but i was told how overpriced they are sometime ago and looked for myself and saw this was true. even with my platinum discount i can often find stuff cheaper if i do a bit of googling.
yet i still use wiggle as i have found there service impeccable, if im buying a lot of stuff it is easier to get it all from one place, there delivery is speedy, and there returns system is fantastic.
if im buying one off stuff i will shop around and if im buying lots of bits and bobs and have the time i will too, but usually the time/cost benefit is better to pay slightly more and get it all from wiggle.
but then again im an idiot!0 -
The one that I wish they had back was the CNP deal. Last year we used to get 40% off RRP, which meant some of the items where quite reasonable i.e. made CNP My Protein prices. This has gone away now though at the moment meaning the only offer when I last checked was that you got some free gels if you spent over so much0

Golden rule of cycle shop discounts is never to take them at face value. For example, Ribble currently have an extra 10% off deal but when you look at the price of a lot of the stuff you'll find it has just gone up by 10% over the usual price ad there is little difference to how much the item cost last week than this week. Some of the deals give good discounts on some of the items but most pretty much end up at the normal price you'd pay if you had any sense anyway (ie most of the time you'd be mad to buy any expensive item at Ribble unless there was an extra discount associated with it).
This generally applies across the board - don't look at the discount, look at the actual price!Faster than a tent.......0 -
Wiggle will price match as I have found.0
