Cassette rubbing on spokes

So futher to my last thread
viewtopic.php?f=40004&t=12910443
and lots of to-ing and fro-ing between bike shops and hardware stores, I managed to swap the dead 9 speed freehub on my wheel for a spare (not sure the model number) which the bike shop had lying around. (Cyclesurgery gave it to me for free - thanks guys!)

I also replaced all the bearings and grease and it turned out it was the DS races which were grinding so now I have a new hub the DS races are new, so now they are silky and quiet!

I also removed all the nuts/washers etc from the axle and gave it a thorough clean.

So I re-assembled it all and put the axle/bearings etc back together and put the old 12-25 cassette back on. Now when I gave it a spin it rubbed on the spokes? Why would this be?

I have a 12-27 cassette which I put on instead (which I need for an audax next weekend, conveniently) and it doesn't rub at all.

All I can think is that I need a spacer or something to put in there? But then my cassette may not fit?

Any ideas?
Thanks

Are you 100% positive the freehub is the correct one?

I would be more likely to be 100% positive that it is NOT the correct one.

    It fit perfectly though!
All I can think is that it is a 10sp freehub and mine was a 9sp one. I know they are the same width, but I think the 9sp freehub had 1mm or 1/2mm of built in spacer to stop this from happening. Interesting that the 27T cassette doesnt rub but the 25T one did though

If the smallest sprocket sits well on the freehub, then a spacer might solve the thing, but if it is on the edge already, then there is not much you can do

Well it seems the shop have thrown the old freehub (which I told them to, in all fairness) so I can't compare the 2, but if I had to guess I would say that the old hub had 1mm of spacer built in, if that makes sense.

Wonder what the new Sora freehub looks like, as I'll probably go for that

Another forumite has kindly given me an old tiagra freehub and it looks to have the 1mm or so of spacer built in.

Fingers x'd this works, or I have a brand new hub on the way!
