    ouuu, nice paintwork on that.

Your bars need to be tilted upwards a little.
  • I thought the same about the bars but after tilting doesn't feel quite as comfortable to me, think the angle of the photo exaggerates it too...personal preference I suppose

that's begging for some deep section rims... already looks pretty fantastic though!
  • I agree...although my student wallet doesn't :(

Why would he want to increase the weight of his bike?

OP great bike, all Orbeas look great as well as ride superbly. You must be so proud of it? One day I'll upgrade my Onix to one of these.

I think you're doing all right if you can afford that on a student budget

So it looks better... cycling is all about looking pro. Like the Euskaltel version: http://d4nuk0dd6nrma.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/2N4A9215.jpg
  • Very nice, love the paint job. It's finally yours, so hope you enjoy it.

    Very nice.
Agree with other comments re the hoods, have a try at moving them when you get some thinner bar tape as that stuff looks thicker than John McEnroe's headband !
Sill very nice though and your unlikely to see another.
    Enjoy.

Have to say that bike does look pretty sweet indeed. Not sure about keeping the white handlebar tape clean though!
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

    Why wouldnt he?
Lighter means nothing if your unfit, overweight or a non pro.
the deeper the section the deeper the pleasure.

Agreed, nor aero if you're not TTing or on a lone break travelling at above 25mph

Very nice. Love the colour scheme
  • At first I was annoyed that they didn't do the Silver carbon frame in the orange paint scheme...but to be honest I think this is just as sexy ;)

    Rides like an absolute dream.

I see tons of these here in mallorca, they look amazing up close, my local shop alway has a few in there, do look good and very popular over here.
  • Wish we had Mallorcan weather over here, got 100 miles in on it at the weekend but it's going to be all salty and horrible this week, back to the winter bike it is :(

    Very nice.

I think the Orca bronze frame has an orange colour choice but it is a different shade from the Euskatel orange of the orca Gold. The Orca Silver frame is the start of internal cable routing.

"I like riding in my car, it's not quite a Jaguar."
  • Correct. Although none of the Orcas have full internal cable routing; only the rear brake goes inside the frame.

I take it you done plenty research. Anything else better on the Silver over the Bronze?

"I like riding in my car, it's not quite a Jaguar."
  • Nicer seat clamp, aero seatpost and seattube, slightly different mould and higher grade of carbon. They start speccing them with better finishing kit too; eg 3T bars and stem instead of Orbea's own, SLR saddle instead of SL... You don't get pedals on the Silver though, on the Bronze you get Look Keo Easys

I've opted for the Carbon/Silver paint-job on mine, also chose to go for Kysrium Elite option. Stem and bars are going to be the same spec from what I know.

I originally had my eye on the bronze and would maybe have gone to Di2 but the shop talked me into the silver frame as they said that the silver and up is the start of the 'real carbon'

"I like riding in my car, it's not quite a Jaguar."
  • Very nice, thought about that paint scheme too but no frames in that paint in stock when I ordered mine! Elites are a bargain upgrade for the price. What groupset have you gone for?

Opted for 105 after much deliberating, see my original 'Help-me decide thread' http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40042&t=12902524&hilit=orbea+orca...

I was between the paint finish you chose and what I chose finally, I think both are smashing although I would have taken the Euskatel orange if it was available. Suppose it not being too flash colour-scheme will save me blushes if I'm seen when I'm pushing it up a hill sweating like a badger!

Since I didn't max my budget, some extra went towards the Kysrium Elite wheel upgrade (which I agree was good value) and this will leave me a wee drop spare budget to go all-out on the bottle cages, and any other smaller accessories that I might need.

It's ready to be collected this week but I need to wait until the snow calms down a bit before I can get to the bike-shop so another couple of sleepness nights to come. ;-) It has been a long few weeks and had been told there were delays at the factory due to the groupsets being delayed, maybe that means I'll get the latest revision at least.

  • Ahh yes I remember having similar thoughts about that price difference between the 105 and ultegra ones, it's ridiculous! Don't understand their logic with not doing the Silver in Euskaltel orange! Believe me it'll be worth the wait, I waited ages for mine and since getting it last saturday I've done 220 miles on it, just can't get enough! That is a pretty good route and kudos for big miles on a brand new bike. Did you not want to stay local incase there were any mechanicals?

I'm in Scotland but visit relatives in that area of Yorkshire most Octobers and also double-up as a cycling break, I've done a few rides around Easingwold, Thirsk, Suttonbank and also a route that someone referred to as the Upsall Flyer. I just borrowed the route from bikely and didn;t realise that the clue to how steep it is was in the name. :D

"I like riding in my car, it's not quite a Jaguar."
  • It was a crap route, only intended on doing 50 but felt good so kept adding bits on, hence it keeps looping back to York! Never heard of the Upsall Flyer might have to give that a Google! Anyway make sure you get some pics of your bike up when it arrives!
