Warranty Question

Hello guys,
So I have a specialized bike that is only about 3 months old, everything is going great, top performer and kept in top condition. The only problem is that the rear gears indicator has stopped moving (shimano deore).
Obviously this doesnt affect the performance of the gears, just an inconvenience more than anything.
Ok so just take it back to the shop? yea but the main problem is i bought it online from an independent bike shop around 300 miles away. The shop is Bike scene based in the NE england, really great guys and some amazing service I have to say, I would 100% recommend them.
Its just, i really dont see the point in sending away a bike 300 miles for a small problem that would probs costs about 15 quid and an hour in a local bike shop to fix.
(I am still learning about bike maintenance so taking apart the bike and sending just the parts isnt really an option for me im afraid)
Now it is still a pain to have to pay for something like this only having had the bike a few months, So would anybody know if I could use my specialized / shimano warranty in a local specialized dealer? My local dealer is the Aberdeen branch of The Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative.
I am not sure how this works, if it needs to go back to the original point of purchase or if any dealer could do it? any advice would be greately appreciated
Thanks very much indeed

Your contract of sale lies with the retailer. However some dealers offer after sales care through other store. Contact the shop, see what they say. Or alternatively take the indicators off like most people do!0

Or just take the shifter off and send that back. Easy enough to disconnect the cable. You'll have to do it sooner or later to replace the cable anyway.
Can't see the need to send the whole bike.

I took forks off and sent them back to EBC. First class service every time I've dealt with them0

Or just leave it since you shouldn't be using the gear indicators anyway.0

Remove the indicator and see what has actually gone wrong, often it just needs relocating.
As above, your gear indicator is whether your spiniing the cranks at the right speed, not an arbitrary 'number' on a display.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
