Chainset

Hi At present I have a triple 9 speed chainset about year 2006 and my bb is a TH7420 square taper 68 mm shell and 113 mm spindle sealed cartridge. I would like to upgrade my chainset. Do i have to stay with this square taper or can i replace bb so as to purchase more modern chainsets.

    Any crankset that uses a threaded BB will be fine.

    External bearing ones will require the BB shell to be faced.

    Sorry to be such a novice would say a hollowtech chainset work.not sure what facing bb shell means. Also would a 10 speed chainset work with my existing 9 speed. Set up. Thanks
