Not sure if this has been reported in the UK press or not, but another celeb accident; Laurent Jalabert was knocked off the other day by a dozy car driver who ignored a stop sign. Look bike broken clean in 2, he's got multiple fractures of the arm and hand, and says if it weren't for his helmet, he'd probably be dead.

Scary that if it can happen to these guys it sure as sh*t can happen to anyone of us.

I always try to eyeball every driver at every junction, but not sure if that would have prevented this one.

Interesting you mention the damage to the bike first. :?
Mind you having said that whenever I've had a spill the instant reaction is to check the bike then myself.

Sounded like he was descending and the car turned in front of him or pulled out in front of him. Scary as hell.

yep, no doubt that the car was in the wrong, Laurent seems fairly chilled about it, but was almost in tears at the end of his interview in hospital when he realized he might never have seen his family again......

Was always thought he wasn't the same in a sprint following his collision with that copper taking a photo in the tour all those years ago, lets hope he doesn't suffer anymore similar mis-fortune.
