Right Price, Wrong Time?

Hello,
Just got wind that my LBS has a deal on their last CAAD10 which brings it inside my budget for a road bike.
This would be my first road bike. At the moment I ride my Sirrus, a road-y(ish) hybrid, almost exclusively on trails. I don’t feel confident around traffic, but I’m doing a course on this next week and know that I will in time.
I was planning to buy a road bike in 3-6 months, when I am better around traffic. It feels kind of stupid to buy such a good road bike for a chunk of cash when I don’t yet do much cycling on the road. But at the same time it’s such a good deal for something that I know I will be in the market for in a short while.
What would you do? Bear in mind that, for me, the CAAD10 would be a significant (but affordable) investment.
Cheers

What kind of deal is it? Lets see just how special it is as it may be something you could get later anyway.0

TBH whilst I understand your concerns about buying it now and not getting out too much. But in 3-6 months time we could have worse weather than we have now and you might not get out to much then either.
If your concerned with riding around traffic, its good that you have got yourself onto a course and it should build your confidence. Plus you can always do some British Cycling Go Ride events, or even go out with a club who has an intro group where you would be more than welcome & with ride leaders to look out for you make you safer.
The bike does sound like a good deal & often retailers are trying to shift last years stock to make way for the current years. Thats how I got mine and I have not looked back since.Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.0 -
If it's a good deal then just buy the bike and use it. Life's too short.....................0

Well, it was a good deal. Such a good deal that it was a mistake. The discounted 2012 price had been applied to the 2013 model.
Unfortunately, when mailing about it with the retailer the price has gone back up...
So the 2012 model is now available for the discount. Less tempting - a decent price but I can pick up the 2013 model at a discount later when I'm more experienced with road bikes.0 -
