hi, I am really struggling to work out if the new cassette I have bought will be suitable. It's shimano hg51 11/28 and it's going to replace my standard 13/26 cassette. Both lockrings are different sizes. Other than getting 2 lockring tools, should I reconsider changing sprocket sizes and stick with the 13/26. I am also running a shimano 2300 deraiileur and 39/50 chainring.

Thanks

the tool should be the same.

    shimano/Sram use the same pattern.

use the new lock ring with the new cassette or you will not be able to use the 11T cog.

thanks. yeah I read that all shimano/sram cassettes have the same pattern. Will that even matter if the 2 lockrings I have for each cassette are different sizes? One is for the 11t and the other is bigger and for the 13t. Surely the lockring remover won't fit both to remove one and install the other or does the size/diameter not really matter?

    the tool is the same.

there is only one shimano lock ring tool.

but as i said make sure you use the correct ring with the cassette.
