Going to take up mountain biking after a long number of years off a bike since i was 14 and am 33 now.
Is buying from Halfords a wise decision?
Am looking to spend £3-£350 and was lookin at the Carrera range Vulcan, Centos etc, i want a reasonable bike that will do a few years .
All comments help and advice appreciated

There's only one a hole in the thread. Just ignore him. The bikes are good value.
Also look at Decathlon.

If the reviews on the carrera range on halfords web site are anything to go by there not far off the mark for what am after. Buying off halfords is my only concern am seeing very mixed reviews on halfords expertise and knowledge.
Decathlon ?? Is that a make ? sorry for the questions .0 -
Decathlon is a French sports store with shops over here who do their own range of pretty decent bikes. They don't cover the whole of the UK, but they are worth heading to,0

As for Halfords, like all big chains (and small shops) some shops are better than others, and some staff are better than others. But the bikes are fine.I don't do smileys.

Good lad .......
So far so good but early days yet only done about 2 miles lol. One small problem is the front brakes, but is down to my mistake because i took the front wheel off to fit it in the car and accidentally hit the front brake lever, isnt rubbing bad very little in fact but after reading up it seems shud be easy sorted so il have a try in the morning0
