I'm looking to get a retul fit done for my TT bike, just wondering if anyone's used and could recommend an Essex based fitter? The options I'm looking at ATM are BikeScience in Billericay or the HPU at Colchester uni so reviews of either of these would be great as would any other suggestions.

The only place I know of is Cycle Evolution in Stanway, although this would be a Specialized fit rather than Retul. I've not used them but I've heard they're good. It's not cheap if you go for the full works (c£200) but is for about 4 hours and involves video analysis. Should be more info on their website if you're interested (http://www.cycle-evolution.net/the-fit.html)0

there's not an awful lot in Essex, might be better looking in London/Kent imo0

Thomas's Cycle Evolution in Colchester has bike fit.0

Thanks, will have to do some research into the Specialized fit process and how it compares to retul.
Would rather avoid London if possible, just because it's a pain to get there with a bike as I'd rather not ride a TT bike round the city, public is a pain and driving is more of a pain. Would be happy to consider recommendations for places in Kent though?0 -
Just outside Essex in Ipswitch Suffolk there's a place called Cyclelab

Not my thread but thanks for the recomendation! Been getting backache and numb hands for a while and was trying to find somewhere local to me that didn't charge too much for a basic fit. Will be paying these guys a visit once my back heals.0 -

Thanks for all the comments, had a look at Cyclelab but according to their website they're not currently taking bookings. Made a decision and I'm now booked into BikeScience/Yellow Jersey on Monday so I'll report back on how it goes...0

How did you get on Jack?
I had my first decent ride since my fitting on Sunday and it was the most comfortable ride I have ever had. I felt that I could have ridden all day.
I am a solid convert to a good bike fit now!!Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

Rich.
I had my bike fit at Evolution a month ago on my Boardman pro carbon and it was really good spent 5hrs there and got some free tweaks done to my bike too, had a new saddle and stem and had really made it a more comfortable ride and my average speed has gone up hope it works out as good for you.0 -

Seems goods, I'll post further comment after the weekend when (hopefully) I'll get a chance to get out on the road with the TT bike for a couple of hours. General impression of the process was that Chris at Yellow Jerseys knows his stuff and the service was great. Was there for a couple of hours and made a few tweaks to saddle position and bar height. Certainly seemed more comfortable on the turbo, just got to find out if comfort and power production are improved on the road now.0 -
Hi guys.....I know its an old thread but im looking to get a Retul fit done at the Yellow Jersey store soon. Just wondering how things have been on the bike since you had it done?

Sorry, only just seen this, a few thoughts...
Had to make a few changes since the fit, I didn't really help myself as when I went for the fit I had an adamo saddle (odd shaped thing with two prongs at the front, designed to relieve pressure from the perenial area if you've not heard of them) and have since had to admit that the saddle doesn't work for me so I've gone back to a conventional one which causes all sorts of problems with fit as the adamo is quite specific.
But to be honest I'm not sure that I would bother with a retul fit in future, I was hoping for a magic bullet kind of thing that would get my position perfect, and realistically that was never going to happen. However, my initial setup wasn't that far out when I went for the fit so there were never going to be huge changes and the process did help me to see some guidelines of what effects certain changes would make. One other thing that struck me after the fit was that for some reason I can't hold my TT position comfortably on the turbo for any length of time while I can happily ride on the road in the same position for several hours (not a result of the fit, something I've always struggled with), so I suspect that a turbo based fitting session probably isn't going to have much benefit for me anyway.
All in all, I think it could be a big help to people other than me but I'm not the ideal candidate for the process, although did still take away some useful pointers0 -
Thanks for the reply. Im fairly happy and reasonably comfortable with my setup as it is however, am recovering from a pretty nasty dislocated and fractured hip injury from a cycling accident and therefore wanted to be as comefortable as possible for when im fully recovered.
I think I'll hang on for a few more months and take it from there.
Cheers.... Mick0 -

Wow, this was my thread from a long time ago.
I'd advise booking with these guys in Walthamstow if you're anywhere near there http://www.racerrosabicycles.co.uk/inde ... page&id=16
Very good and much better than a retul fit I had from a Billericay bike shop0 -
https://panaguabikes.com/ A bit further into Kent than Essex, but Denver is probably one the best in the whole country at his Job, he is pretty much a scientist/wizard and the shop has just spent the best part of £20k completely restructuring the way it does bike fits, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Head across the border into Hertford town centre and see Dean at https://www.fit-me-up.com/.0

Personally, I would strongly recommend against fit-me-up.0 -
