Pins and Needles in hands/wrists

Hi guys....am in serious training mode for an MTB Marathon (75k) event in july....i've been training in the house on a multigym 5days/week with 20-30mins on a Cross trainer as a warm up and an hour to hour n half on the multigym.
my fitness level is improving well and revcovery time is what most impressing me (from what it was) but.......during a (4hr) 37mile XC ride i did the other week i was getting slight "numb / pins n needles" feelings in my hands/wrists after about 2hrs of solid riding, a couple of shakes of the hands and the feelings goes away for a bit...then get the same coming on again throughout the rest of the ride. it was the same on a 2.5hr ride i did the week before at about the same sort of 2hr mark.
i noticed the same after 20mins on the Cross trainer last night, a couple of shakes and the feelings goes away.
i'll drink a lot of fluid when out, on the last ride i'd added some of the SIS Hydro tablets in the camelback, took a banana and a few snack bars with me.
i usually drink water when training at home.
any ideas? is it just my age and lack of long ride fitness?
i'm 41 and 6'2", roughly 16.5st at present.

Try bent bars such are On One Mary Bars or Jones H Bars.
Ragley use to make the best bent bars called the Carnigies but have stopped making them now.0 -
have just swapped the standard Spesh FSR XC bars for some 760's and new grips....28miles done yesterday and only one instance around 14-15miles in but was time for a little snack break anyway.0
