Dan Lloyd - doing a nice job

Is anyone else a fan of Daniel Lloyd's commentary? I've always seem a lot of negative comments about some commentators on Eurosport. I've heard in the smaller races over the past few years, and have always enjoyed his commentary on Eurosport. Seems like a nice guy, and is always quite enthusiastic, and has really good knowledge too. Seems to be quite on the interviews too.

I do like him & think that the riders probably prefer to talk to him as an ex top level pro than some random journalist who might or might not ask a relevant question - Youtube the interview with mo farah for a prime example.

He hosts the GCN pod cast on Youbtube too which is always worth a watch IMHO.

He's decent on GCN and the same on Eurosport.. quite a likeable commentator to be honest.

Watched it yesterday & its a good idea to a do a behind the scenes look.

Though not to sure I'd like someone messing around with my bike computer though, then again I think Dan is a foot taller than me so I'm not going to argue with him.

He will know his way around the SRM computer menu so is not likely to hit 'clear data' or whatever by mistake.

+1 for the GCN videos and his Eurosport commentary. As well as listenable delivery, some ex-riders that pick up the mic can communicate their understanding of the way a race unfolds as well as individual riders' strengths.

I'd bloody hope he knows his way around an SRM - the reason I said what I said is think unless they were about a foot taller than me anyone messing around with my bike computer will see whether my look cleats are compatible with their sphincter

Agreed, I don't know what the deal was with Tierreno they changed the commentary team every other stage, but I enjoyed Carlton and Dan as a team the best I think. The fact that it was one of the best stages probably didn't hurt mind.

Were they doing the coverage for Sky Sports did I hear?

So if he was only 5'3" you'd kick him for touching your computer? Really? You must be great company over a beer... though it appears to be doing the talking already.

Don't know from the Youtube clip he mentioned RCS (possibly) I think which are one of the host broadcasters maybe? Wouldn't surprise me if it ended up with Sky though if purchased from host broadcasters. Plus seem to recall that for some of the Euro races they have someone commentating at the finish over the speaker system to the crowd and have had a few UK presenters in the past.

Dan and Carlton were doing the international feed, which goes out around the English-speaking world and was picked up by Sky this year. The speakers you referred to are in fact a speaker, Anthony McCrossan, who does some RCS races. RCS, by the way, are the organisers. RAI are the host broadcasters, and IMG the global rightsholders.

There we go all the answers in one place & from someone who knows a lot more about it than me.

No I wouldn't kick anyone , though I wouldn't be happy with anyone for messing with my bike computer or anything of mine as I have OCD & get narked when my other half mess's up my sock draw but its doesn't me I'm into domestic violence.
