Carbon Steerer
Hello,
I have just recieved my new Columbus Tusker light forks with a carbon steerer and have just discovered that my Hope Head Doctor expander is to big for the fork. I have emailed Hope and they have told me that I will need to use a traditional star shaped bung expander is this right as I was told before by a LBS that you cannot use traditional star shaped ones in a carbon steerer.

Don't use a star fangled nut in a carbon steerer. Not sure why Hope would advise that?Ben

I would also advise against a star nut (unless the steerer is lined with aluminium?).
Carbon steerers require an expanding bung as mentioned.
Hope seem to be using confused terminology 'star shaped bung expander'. New one on me, unless you have confused their message?Yellow is the new Black.0 -
as above, do not use a star nut in a carbon steerer
the columbus expander should fit (certainly fits the columbus minimal fork)
