How to delete a section of an activity - Garmin Edge 705

I forgot to click Stop on my Garmin Edge 705 at the end of yesterday's race so now my activity file includes the time spent coasting back to my car afterwards so it’s distorting the picture the ride totals give in the software. Is there any way I can delete this section of the ride so that I can analyse only the actual race itself in Garmin Connect, Training Center, Strava, Training Peaks etc? I’ve done some searches but could only find ways to edit the activity header information, not delete a chunk of it.

The 705 stores the files as clear text in GPX - so you could cut the data out of that - just work with a copy!
  • exactly the same happened me a while ago and i asked exactly the same question on Garmin's own forum. Someone suggested I posted the link and someone would fix it for me.

I did that and hey presto!

Garmins free program basecamp will allow you to edit gpx files graphically, you can split the track, join, drag points etc.etc.
