Fulcrum 3 bearing replacement
Hi everyone,
I have purchased some new wheels so I'd like to sell my fulcrum 3's.
I went to the LBS to check that everything is ok before I list them.
Anyway, the rear wheel bearings are rather rough. I thought I'd get a quote as I can either list them as they are for a bit less £ or replace them and sell them as excellent condition.
So I was quoted £50 for the replacement bearings including fitment for one wheel.
I've done a little research since getting home and would like to use the collective knowledge on here:
on page 25...
http://www.fulcrumwheels.com/system/doc ... 1312279863
so the bearings are "fulcrum 4 r1 007"
which can be found here:
http://www.i-ride.co.uk/4-R1-007-4-HB-R ... -4pcs.aspx
I don't intend on purchasing the tools to do it myself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RvHCM4_J9k&lr=1
I watched that video and it looks like i need some random tool + a bearing press which will cost more that the use I will get out of it.
So having given all the information....
Bearings are something I have never had to personally service before due to changing parts so regularly. So could someone confirm that the above bearings are correct and that based on £18 bearings, £32 is fair to service/replace them? Seems a little steep to me, especially for just doing one wheel.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks Paddy. I had watched and linked the video for bearing replacement but he used a bearing press as that was the fulcrum 3 video. If you can 100% confirm I require no such tools, I'd be very grateful. I will then go ahead and buy the bearings to do it myself.
Thanks again.Time RXR Ulteam

You don't need special tools to replace the bearings, just a set of allen keys and some grease. In the video they also replace the bearing cups, which need special tools as they are pressed into the hub shell. You shouldn't need to do this unless you've done a lot of miles on worn bearings.
If I was you I'd just change the bearings for now and see how you get on. The bearings are the same as for Campagnolo cup and cone hubs, like these from Ribble.Alex0 -
Thank you Alex. I'll be ordering them along with some grease.
Can I confirm that Finish Line Teflon grease is good to use in this instance?Time RXR Ulteam
