Started work on the new frame tonight but when i took the bb out of the old frame i found 2 spacers drive side and 1 non drive side. This i believe would usually be the norm but not for truvativ firex cranks as i understand? Cranks were fitted by the lbs last year but im not sure whether to do the same for the new frame or remove a spacer.
Old frame is gt avalanche and new frame is on-one inbred so both are 68mm

Which standard of bottom bracket/chainset is it? Firex covers a large range.0

Gxp bb and iirc firex 3.3 chainset0

Usually would be 1 each side, but try and find the SRAM tech doc.0

The techdoc says 1 each side, had found it earlier when googling for the torque setting. I would have thought it wouldnt have fit properly when the lbs did it but it has worked fine for months.
Is there any chance of damage or should i just put it back on as per the sram manual?0 -
The crank wouldn't be far enough on the axle.0

fit it 1 each side.
but check the bearings feel ok."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Supersonic is right. You wouldn't be able to get the crank far enough on the axle if you use too many spacers. And you don't need to worry about overtightening and crushing the bearings as with a Hollowtech II design as the GXP design uses a axle that narrows from 24 to 22mm and a through bearing spacer to prevent you from being able to apply enough pressure on the non drive side outer cup.0

Thanks for the replies, I will try fitting with 1 spacer each side tonight and see if it still tightens up properly.
Nick, the bearings felt ok but going to remove the covers and regrease while they are out.0
