So i've got an iphone 4 and a holder for the bike. Tried a few different apps with cyclemeter & panobike being my favourite.

I want more data but turns out iphone 4 uses old school bluetooth where the iphone 4S uses bluetooth4. This means i can't use bluetooth topeak sensors :(

The answer is upgrade phone (not cost effective) or an +ANT adapter

Does anyone use +ANT heart rate or cadence sensors with a smartphone? How do you get along with it?

Battery life will always be the issue with a smartphone.

I have a 4S and tried several options and apps before buying a Garmin 800.

    You will do the same.

...or the Garmin 500 (or 810 or 510). I agree I also played with mine and ended up getting the 500. One of the best buys I have made!
