Hi
The shell width on my bike is 73mm and Ive just fitted my Hollow tech2 BB and chain guide( which is a BB mount) on my bike and find the chain rubs the guide unless im halfway up the rear cassette, Ive used no spacers on the BB which I believe is right.
Also what is the role of the security tab on the crank, as the star nut can still undo even with the tab down...
Any info and advice on these things would be great...Thanks

If you mean the plastic nut, it's to preload the bearings. It is superfluous once the pinch bolts are tightened. The security tab just makes sure the ND crank is propely seated.I don't do smileys.
