With Spring on its way  I am looking for a new lieghtweight / packable summer jacket.

I'm considering the following:
Mavic Espoir
Castelli Squadra
Castelli Leggero
Sportful Hot Pack 4 Jacket

Any thoughts/recommendations? Thanks.
Rich

Got the Squadra and I like it, fits really well. The tail on it isn't as long as some so it does ride up a bit but doesn't bother me. It's boil in the bag but aren't they all at this price point?

I've got the hot pack and the legerro, both boil in the back and more of emergency wear tbf fair

I've tried a few and most are 'boil in the bag' the best I've found so far is the Montane Featherlite Velo, however i'd suggest a gilet, much more adaptable.

ShutUpLegs - What would you say the difference is between the two? Which is the lighter?

I am presuming the Squiadra is the lightest of this bunch? With the others much of a muchness?

Gilet. A relatively recent find for me and it's all you need, i've used it on all but the coldest days this winter, in the summer you can fold up a lightweight one to half the size of a jacket.

castelli leggero, soft fabric, very breathable and packs extremely small, you could get 3-4 in a jersey pocket

as above, the gilet version may be better for summer, in the event we get ever one this decade

Gilet for me too. Find that if wearing a s/sleeve top & arm warmers with the gilet on I don't tend to get to hot and if I do I can just pull down the arm warmers without needing to take of the gilet.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

A gilet is more useful. I've the rapha rain jacket but take my cheapo aldi fluo jacket out on the bike. It hardly ever gets used anyway so there's not much point in spending extra for the name.

Thanks for the gilet suggestions. I have a gilet but would also like a lightweight rain jacket to use as a race cape.

On long rides/european sportives where rain/cold is a possibility sometimes a gilet is not enough (for me). 6+hrs of Dragon Ride/Marmotte in the rain - I would rather a jacket / race cape than a gilet?

I think I am narrowing it down to either of these - both are about £60:

Only reason I suggested it is I used to pack a rain jacket but the issue I had was stopping to put in on/off as I find I end up like a boil in the bag meal if i wear it the whole ride and getting hot/wet inside as much as out. I do still take mine If its a long ride with rain predicted but if its only showers its only my arms that are going to get wet and the arm warmers tend to dry out quickly & i don't find much of an issue with wind chill.

At least with the gilt I can wear mine all day if its colder and not worry about overheating or getting rid of body sweat.

The mavic jacket is pretty good for the money.
