Till the new year I was a 1 bike man ...
But commuting on the roadbike with Crud's attached I found that it picked up a lot of mud & rubbish - borrowed the wifes Hybrid for december which was fine, but too small and I missed the option of the drops ...

So I've got a CX now as well - this has got fixed mudguards on so can be used in the snow/wet without getting filthy (quite handy as we have no shower at work and I don't like putting on really dirty/wet clothing at the end of the day)
Mudguards have come off the roadbike and I managed to use it for the last fortnight - but it looks like it'll be back to the cx if I ride in this week (didn't bother today cos of the X wind and snow).

When I had just the 1 bike I just didn't ride to/from work if it was going to be really wet - otherwise I just went out as normal - no mudguards... now I have the option I can increase the rides to work to include the wet.

I use SKS gaurds and can't be bothered to take them off, they don't look too bad anyway.

Mudguards do look a little pony, but they make the job so much more practical in terms of staying clean and dry.

    THEY STAY ON.
  • once we're past heavy frosts and they're no longer putting salt on the roads

Mudguards do increase wind resistance and you can feel the difference so don't use the for racing.

    Do they?
