Best MTB for under £300?

I know you guys must get sick of this question but a little help on this would be greatly appreciated
I've been given a budget of £300 to spend by my better half, I will be mainly using the bike to commute to work a long a canal footpath
I've been debating over these bikes for the last few days...

The rockrider is the best there, but the tyax 2012 is worth paying the extra if you want hydraulic disc brakes.0
