Mekk 2G Poggio P2.5 Ultegra or Cannondale Synapse Apex
(both 2012 bikes)

Which one is best, I'm 15 female and have been riding for over a year and I ride everyday for atleast 10 minutes, hoping towards summer to put some real miles in.
Advice is really appreciated as I want to get the right bike! Thanks

What about this one?

You can put the extra money elsewhere.0 -
I have looked at that but I've decided not to go for it and it is going to be purely between the two I have written down, I was hoping for opinions on ride style and comparisons on components..Cycling Put the fun between your legs

Thats fine - however. whatever I and others think is fine for us, might not be for you ( more people will state a preference for the cannondale -mostly as this is the brand they are familiar with or the one they own). The synapse for a road bike has a relaxed geometry -more upright seating position designed for comfort (the supersix is also available at Pauls cycle -is more race orientated). I do not know much about the Mekk, however the wiggle reviews are very favourable. Both apex and ultegra are good groupsets -I personally prefer ultegra.
Wiggle offer this:

Unfortunately the 30 day test ride does not apply to the Mekk as it has £30% discount on it. How easy is it to get used to race geometry, surely a more racier geometry is easy to get used to at a younger age?Cycling Put the fun between your legs

The relaxed geometry, for me, is more about being stable on the bike and being able to see traffic than flexibility etc. others may disagree. I'd be surprised if the synapse felt upright to you if you remove all the headset spacers.
Cannondale for me: (slightly) better wheelset, better tyres, cheaper. not forgetting that it's a great looking bike. ultegra is a better groupset than apex but it's a shame to see a 105 front mech: for me the main advantage to ultegra is its front shifting.
All IMHO, of course. i don't think there is a wrong decision here.0 -

That is good to hear but also leaves me needing to make a decision, on the Mekk i'm going to upgrade the front mech if i get it, months I've been saving now I can't make a decision, typical.
I am female, I'm 5ft 8 so looking at a 54cm would that chnage anything really?Cycling Put the fun between your legs

No, there's no need to change the front mech. The 105 will work perfectly well for you. the only areas you need to look at are pedals (though regular flat pedals will come with the bike) and possibly a female specific saddle. have you checked that a male-oriented geometry suits you? Girls can be longer in the leg and shorter in the torso than men, relatively speaking. you can always use the fit calculator on competitivecyclist.com to check against the geometry charts for the bikes. takes only a few minutes and gives you a good idea of how your dimensions stack up against stock frames. sadly not all 54 frames are exactly - or even roughly - the same.0
