Quite a few web sites allow you to "ride" a planned or uploaded route, but is there a site or a stand-alone program that uses maps with a street view (e.g. Google or Bing) to let you "travel the route"?

Doesn't Google Earth do something like this?

I'm a tad confused. Your original question quotes the answer?

Use streetview in google maps and you can click down the road and effectively travel the route.

Are you trying to pick out landmarks or something?

Thanks for the tips. I use StreetView and Google Earth but I just think it would be nice to upload the gpx or tcx file and watch the road roll out in front of me.

ridewithgps.com lets you 'play' your route. You just have to slow it down the 16x plays it too fast.

There's a play button in the bottom right of the screen, i can't see a way of playing the route in street view, just a blue dot going around the map.

    Thanks. It's a StreetView display I'm after.
