Right-o,
I've two bikes, the XC Moment and the DH Socom. The Moment has been built up before with 36s, a DHX and Flows, and rocked at pretty much everything. I don't really need a full 200mm boxxer on the Socom as many of the DH tracks I visit aren't rough enough to warrant one. The Boxxers (2005) don't have heaps of life left so I will need to replace them eventually. What I would like to do, is sell some 170mm Lyriks which I no longer have a use for to fund a single fork which can span both bikes. The Boxxers will live longer as I can save them for more taxing courses and I can have a bit more fun on the Moment by building it up.
I've been looking into the Suntour Durolux which is adjustble from 140/180, but the 140 is a bit short for my intentions. The importers say you can't add shims to increase the minimum which is gutting as otherwise, I'd just go for it. The TALAS 180 is also a 140/180, but the max and min can be adjusted via shims. However, they're crippling expensive new and rare second hand. What other options do I have? Selling the boxxers to fund two forks isn't really an option as they aren't worth anything now.

The Lyriks did once upon a time come as a 180mm OEM fork in a Scott Genius which I recon would be perfect - but TF say the 170 can't be extended, but can be reduced.0

How are you going to use one set of forks for two bikes?
A 180mm fork is going to be a lot heavier than a set of 150mm Revelations so it will make your Moment an extremely heavy XC bike. Why not leave the Moment as it is and just get a set of used Totems for the Socom?
I think your 2005 Boxxers would only be 170mm travel and have an A-C measurement similar to a 170mm Lyrik.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I think the boxxers are 200mm, I'll check. The Moment would gear up with a coil shock and Flows - I've had it this way before with 36s and it was brilliant in the Alps. I won't be running it for XC in this way, I'll use it on the gravduros and some DH too. I'd considered a Totem, but it leaves me wanting a heavier build for the Moment. I'm basically trying to get a variety of build options across my two platforms, XC, FR, DH.0

I haven't tried the Socom with the Lyriks TBH, and it's probably worth doing so before selling them. But, I'd be interested in an adjustable fork option to share between them.0

Well, stuck the Lyriks on. I'll ride with these for a while and see what it's like. I'd still like to swap them out for a slightly longer, adjustable fork that I can move over to the Moment from time to time in a shorter mode.

The only real adjustable option is the Fox Talas but it's a horrible fork which can't keep up with the hits on DH trails. Unless your spending big money you should stick with a fixed travel coil fork for DH.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Cheers. I should be able to reduce the travel on the Lyrik without sending it away, and I'll see how the Socom rides with the Lyrik at full length. Then I've got the old boxxers for bigger terrain.0
