Getting into trail riding now and just wondering what people carry with them on the trails etc.

I take a small lightweight rucksack and carry puncture repair patches, a pump, tyre levers, multi tool and of course my wallet, phone, keys etc.

  • I snapped a chain once at Coed y Brenin and a kind passer by gave me a sram powerlink to fix it. Now i always carry them out on the trails.

Powerlinks, tube, park patches, multitool, tyre boot, tubeless patches. Think that's it really. Oh and some mech hangers, including none for the bike I ride the most and one for a frame I no longer own, obviously.

But then I would have to carry all the tools back by myself.

I might get him to dig his own shallow grave when we finish the trail and bury him with the tools. I don't want to build the final hip by myself.

Not massive, but anything over a quick Swinley pootle I have a camelbak - a little one, but in summer I can drain the water easily. Although summer is a fairly rare occurrence.

    Multi tool,
    Water bottle,
    Tube,
    CO2,

    Longer rides;
    Camelbak,
    Pump,
    Chain links,
    Tyre boot,
    Small first aid kit,
    More cake.

Why do you take scabs with you - just adds weight. Fall off enroute and you can have nice fresh ones.

Some of the above mentioned, but I also have a set of large plasters, anti-bac wipes, bandages and a foil blanket. They weigh nothing and whilst I've never had to use the foil blanket, I've passed people on the trail wrapped up in them waiting for a heli-lift.

    And I take my camera.
