Correct riding position whilst on the hoods

Just wanted any opinions about the correct riding position when riding with your hands on the hoods.been told with the correct stem length that the front axle should be hidden by the bars. Any opinions/info would be great

    That was always the rule of thumb which has served me well for the best part of 40 years. Another general guide is place your elbow against the nose of your saddle and your finger tips should be about 2"/50mm from the center of your bars.

    That is the received wisdom but I'd also add that the correct position is the one that feels most comfortable for you.
