Also got some £20 muddyfox road road shoes from sportsdirect... The shoes are great, nice looking and very comfortable! As for the pedals went for some Look Keo easy, I can out much more power down now, hills are much easier! My toes dont go numb anymore  I havent fallen yet, Im finding it easy to clip out when coming to a stop, its clipping back in agsin thats realy slowing me down!? The pedal after clipping out turns upside down, but quite often not all the way so I never know where it is, this makes me look down, normal?

I caught up with a group of commuters tonight, their legs were massive  none of them looked down to clip back in, so you must get hang of it right?

It was good to ride with them for a few miles, they were all wearing proper cycling clothing, but none of them had anything high vis? Was me getting a fluro helmet and overshoes a bad move? Good to been seen though right?

Anyone thinking about making the jump to clipless its definitely worth it!

It's normal to start with, but with everything it comes down to practice and there's no short cut, the pedal drops to the same place every time though, you flip it over with your toes and clip in, sounds easy and it is eventually!

At least you've not fallen yet...................

indeed, that's why i opted for the mtb pedals...just find it annoying some times the pedal is facing the wrong way when u clip and bam...you foot slips and you get some sharp pain in areas you don't want it to hurt

in terms of clothing, you do want something hugging to reduce your drag. get LYCRA...i got funkier shorts they are cheap and pretty good build and very comfortable. jerseys you can go for whatever you fancy...I went down the route of getting Monton ones as the GB jerseys just wasn't and isn't available any more. Tho Rapha is doing replica of Team Sky for fair good price.

in terms of high vis, you personal choice. bright yellow/green/red helmets and overshoes are available, but you better match it with your bike, otherwise you will look like a Douche. which is why most people ride with neutral colors, black/white etc

You'll get used to the feel of the look's after a while.

Glad you made the choice though as it was a revelation to me too a long time ago & I'd never go back now.

As for clothing wear what you want & feel comfortable in. You will tend to find that most serious & a fair amount of less serious riders purchase higher end & more specific clothing due to the build quality, longevity and perhaps a bit of style thrown in. But there are no rights or wrongs really & don't let anyone tell you there are.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
