Hi all a friend of mine has a litespeed tanasi would like to upgrade his gropeset with the latest shimano XTR.. however after reading about the double chainset is unsure whether is will fit on his frame

The FC-M985 double has a narrower Q-factor – it's 3mm narrower on each side, which means it may not be compatible with some frames

any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

So how much clearence now between the heels of the cranks and the chainstays? I can't imagine its close to 3mm! Shorter cranks would also help by a very small amount!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Hey

I have a Tanasi 2005, with XTR 980 cranks, I was worried, but there is 10 to 12 mm clearance either side....

    985 will fit no problem

Yep be surprised if it was a problem on anything but burly FS bikes.
