I have a SRAM 1031 chain fitted. It was put on about 6 months ago by shop when I had a new drive train fitted. I've recently hit out a roller, probably rock hitting front chain ring has done it, noticed it tonight when lubing chain. New chain obvious solution asap, question is shoulkd I stick with same chain, im running a single up front so chain ring is good (no teeth damaged fortunately) but is there a point at which the cassette is best changed in conjunction with chain to avoid premature wearing of new chain?

Can't you just take a link out?0

Add to above - when I said sticvk with same chain, I didn't mean keep old one, I meant shall I buy a new 1031 or go for alternative.0

Don't think so, on SRAM you are taking out 2 to leave male to male link for power link.0 -
pop a chain stretch checker on it, uder .75% you'll probably get away with a new chain, overthen its new casette time too, if you can then just remove the link, or split it and pop in a roller from an old chain?? and put power link in,
new chain wise, KMC,Timmo.

^^^^ wot he said - measure for wear, if ok, split the link and pop in a roller - most chains, except shimano due to peend over pins can be rejoined without the use of special links.0

There is one roller missing from your chain? So only the pin is exposed with no plate damage?0

Yes, does that mean your chain is no longer long enough? There should be enough spare so that an odd link can be taken out during the life of the chain, the rear mech will take care of that.0
