park tools tyre boot as permanent fix?

Managed to pick up a 20 mm split in a Schwalbe racing ralph tyre on Sunday. The tyre is special edition Cube with white band and read bead trim so any replacement is not going to match the front .

So looking at repairing the split using one of these:

I wouldn't advise it, they don't bond brilliantly and are more of a get you home measure, thats a big gash (CC moment) it will fail again.
