Bit of an odd one,
I seem to have a very high number of spots on and around my upper legs and a few on my arse cheeks around the sit bone sometimes, always wash my gear and ensure personal hygiene is strict, I thought it maybe a reaction to some washing powders or something but it turns out not to be.
Could this just be a result of wearing really snug fit stuff / base layers etc

Any thoughts

cheers

Could be. Spotty arses are usually the result of not enough air circulation around the 'area'. So, if you get all sweaty on a ride, get home and just sit down on it for hours it will get a bit festy.

I prescribe a course of talc and nudism.

Add to this dancing around the bedroom like nobody's watching (whilst naked).

I've been suffering with this lateley too.

    Try these if not already...

Use shorts only once, wash them straight after ride. Rinse well.

Shower straight after ride.Baby wipes if commuting and have no work shower.

Chamois creme on you and the pad.

Personally I do all this and still no luck. I have found a 80% cure by using magnesium sulphate paste (from boots £2.00) once a day(bloody stings a bit) and 1% hydrocortisone cream (£3.00 any pharmacy over counter). I've been using these for 3 days and have seen massive improvement. Sudocreme just seems to clot the pores and isn't strong enough.

Failing that my next step, dare I say it... A week of the bike!

If still no improvement it's experiments with new saddle/shorts and bike fit. And a big old case of MTFU

Do you shave? I had the same problem last year and it turned out to be caused by hair follicle damage (ingrowing hair, hair being tugged out and open pores filling with bacteria) as a result of wearing Lycra and vigorous exercise/movement.

Since shaving my a**e cheeks, upper thighs and scrubbing well in the shower post ride it has all cleared up nicely.

    Hope this helps, Phill B.
