Sorry Rich I forgot that you had already picked it up,

If you are interested I have some brand new still packaged White Carbon Colnago Bottle Cages that I bought as spares for my other C59, let me know if you need some?

Reading this back again I must look like some flash git  , but I ain't, I would never have had my first C59 if it hadn't been for my Mum, the CX-1 frameset cost me $1750 so was a bargain and that is all it really cost me for the new C59 thanks to the insurance company to replace that with a three and a half grand frame. The R5 I took advantage of their special offer last year to buy one at half price for £1750. I've just been lucky with bargains, I don't have holidays because of my work, don't drink (well rarely) and I build all my bikes from mostly second hand parts apart from the EPS and even that came off fleabay.

I do like to see beautiful designs though and Colnago's light my fire, however this years range does seem rather drab apart from a couple like the Nero, I'm told that Ernesto left the colours to his nephew to chose, whether this is true or not I don't know, but I do think they have gone wrong a little.

Don't ever feel you have to justify yourself buddy. We work hard and play hard. Plain and simple. If you enjoy spending your money on bikes then so be it.

Great bike, love the colours. Not my choice of wheels but I still like them all the same.

Enjoy it and well done.

The Europcar is a fantastic paint job, it really is a deep, luscious green in the flesh. Good choice.

Not at all, my mate has an Oltre and they are gorgeous, superb paint jobs and lovely lines, I nearly bought one when I couldn't find the right colour to replace the CX-1, but decided to hold out for my personal choice.

Enjoy your Oltre they are fantastic bikes. 8)

Very nice, a C59 in Europcar colours would be on my short-list following a lottery win. Only negative point I'd make is the logos on the wheels - they look gash, take them off ;)

    Thanks,

As I mentioned I have another brand new set of Ultra Bullets in the Garage that I hadn't fitted yet, in fact I have a set on my R5 with the Dark label and the new set are with the standard label, so until I get a chance to have a mess to see which ones look better, then I hadn't made my mind up yet.

Was browsing and thought I recognised this. I have to say pictures don't do it justice looks better in the flesh in the sun. But if I'm really honest just gives me a nice shiny target to beat to the 30 signs

Loved the story, too. Hope you don't mind me laughing at your (initial) bad fortune

Just thought I'd update this as there have been a number of changes to this bike.

I've upgraded the Groupset to Campag EPS Super Record and having ridden about 1100 miles on it last year, I have just fallen head over hills in love with the Campags EPS system, so much so that it is almost tempting to drill my Master frames and put EPS on them!

I managed to acquire some Enve 45 Wheels with Chris King Hubs, only ridden them on the rollers so can't say how they ride on the road, but with Michelin Latex Inner Tubes I can tell the difference just on the rollers, saddle has been changed to a Fizik Kurve Chameleon and that is about it. That Chris King freehub really does sound like a swarm of bees following you, but having to change the freehub from Shim to Campag and buy a lock nut cost me the best part of £200.

I just love riding this bike, weight wise it is probably sub 7.00 Kgs now.

I have to admit that the upshift paddle is not as nice as the record paddle, the hole in the middle isn't quite as comfortable, I can see now why the Europcar team chose Record shifters (apart from the weight issues).

  • Your frame a sloping 50 then ? Been offered a 54" sloping 2012 at a good price but don't know if it's going to be a tad too big I'm 5'11" any idea if it would work

    Thanks for any thoughts

It will be miles too big for you, you could have got away with a 52s as there isn't too much difference between the two that can't be sorted with the saddle and the stem.

    I'm 5ft 10" with a 31" Inside leg, saddle to BB is 72cm.

Yep when you see in it the sunshine it is stunning, but my 150th Anniversary C59 is even better, I'm just waiting for new stickers to arrive for the Bora 2's and I'll post revised pictures for that
