1st Skills Course...

Just completed a "Intermediate Trail Riding" skills course with The Bike School (http://www.thebikeschool.net/) at the Forest of Dean...
Never thought of doing one before as I never really knew if I'd take anything away and they can be quite pricey, but somehow managed to win a free session on Facebook!
What a bloody brilliant day!
Learnt and taken loads away, mainly around correct cornering over loose and off camber turns but also how to manual and when and how to use it on the trail.
The guy taking the session, Adam, was spot on and would highly recommend the course!
Gutted that I'm full of a cold, but the pace was alright so managed to keep up.... just!
Oh and proof is in the pudding, absolutely smashed my PB's on the last decent - after a 19k ride too!
Thinking of a 121 DH session at Stile Cop next!

Was just looking at the pics on Facebook, are you on any of them?
I'd been considering doing the DH course at Cop with them myself, let me know how you get on if you go for it! Or if you fancy splitting the cost for a 2's up session0 -
Agreed!!
I did the jumps & drops course with Adam at Stile Cop and he's a great teacher - what a fantastic rider as well!!
The last time me & DodgeT were at Stile Cop I was talking to some lads in the carpark and they were in the middle of a full day's training with Adam - they thought it was brilliant too.0 -

If you want DH coaching I would recommend either Chris Smith or Ben Deakin.
Chris may not be the fastest DH racer but is technically extremely good and a great teacher. Ben is very fast and is a great coach if you want more speed.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
rockmonkey, where do they teach from? fod/cymcarn?0

Chris Smith teaches on his local trails, near Bath. Ben Deakin's local spot is UK Bike Park but when I spoke to him recently he did say he could do FoD but would obviously have to charge a bit more.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Haha.. I did think! I'm sure I'd have noticed your 456, but there are so many on here they are hard to tell apart0 -
Anybody got link for the website where to book up? Was going to do one at Afan but it fell through because of the snow and the guy doing them didn't seem interested and thinking about it Afan lacks trail features if you ask me so would rather travel to FoD for it, seems a good place to learn having ridden there.0

Ha ha. Likewise, I thought I recognised your rock lobster but wasn't 100% confident. Didn't want to look like a nob (though my riding established this!) so didn't mention.
Yep, whilst I rarely see another carbon456 rider, there are a few of us on here in 456 owners thread.
Good to meet you yesterday, and great to have some HT riders too.

PS @Concorde - the bikes school is well worth the investment. Adam was a good trainer. Whilst it was free, I came away thinking if I'd have paid, I'd have got good value.Family, Friends, Fantastic trails - what else is there
