As I'm about to pull the trigger on a super sharp Canyon SLX I thought I'd share my current workhorse.
She's a hand built 853 frame from Rory O'Brien - well respected frame builder from Romford I believe - probably 80s/90s?
The spec is:
Look HSC forks
Temperamental 9 Speed Ultegra
Pretty early Ksyrium SLs
3T Ergonova Pro Bars & Stem (with shim!)
105 SPD SL pedals
Brooks B17 Narrow
Originally put together by my brother who handed it to me when he became a Buddhist monk - Originally had Cinelli Integralter bars that I didn't really get on with. Mismatched wheels are due to a crash he had where he did his collarbone! Mavic sticker on top tube, he put there to hide a dent
Still, she rides well & has plenty of character.

I like bikes like that that go against the grain a little fashion wise but I do have to ask...are buddhists not allowed to cycle?0

I don't know what's cooler - the bike or the provenance. Buddhist monk rides bike built by bloke from Romford woith French forks. Smart.
Any chance of a piccie of him in his robes on the bike? Now that would be a cool screensaver.0 -
verylonglegs - Yes they are but they ride his other bike - he wanted to keep this one in the family
Yossie - I'm not sure he ever rode it in his orange robes ... wouldn't work with the gold frame!0 -
Nice specimen!left the forum March 20230
