OT: Coffee machine repairs in London?

It looks very much like my Gaggia Classic is in need of a new pump and I was wondering if anyone in London had advice on where to go? I'm sure it would be a piece of cake for the practically minded to fix themselves, but sadly that's not me. After shedloads of Googling I've drawn a complete blank.

Cheers! I did see that one actually, but it's a fair old treck for me from SE London. It's a definitely an option, though, if all else fails.0 -

What's wrong with it?
Why do you say that? Are Gaggias notoriously dodgy?
I'm certain the pump is dead. I've tried re-priming it, but it just won't suck. New pumps cost very little, but it's fitting them that's the worry for me.0 -

The reason I took at an extra 5 year warranty with my baby Classic.
Last machine had new boiler, pump, grinder and casing.
This a new solenoid after it electrocuted me!
makes great coffee though

On a more serious note, the boss bought one for the office a few years back, and London limescale killed it in less than a year: are you using filtered water in it?1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

A good few years ago, I took ours to this place in Swiss Cottage - http://www.fairfaxcoffee.com/Info/About-Us.aspx
There's also a place on the New Kings Road - never been in, but clocked it as somewhere more convenient than Swiss Cottage to try next time I need a repair done - http://www.thecoffeemachinelondon.co.uk/?p=10 -
Try http://www.beandoctor.co.uk who are pretty good at doing some diagnosis via email and giving a rough quote before you have to fork out on postage/courier charges.
And yes, I use filtered water in my coffee machines/kettles and irons... so far, they've all made it to a decade or longer which with London water, feels like a result!0 -
Cheers all!
Looks like Kings Road is now closed so Kentish Town could be in the lead, although they do look like they might be more about servicing for the trade. I'll drop an email to Bean Doctor too. It might be an idea to get the entire thing serviced.rjsterry wrote:On a more serious note, the boss bought one for the office a few years back, and London limescale killed it in less than a year: are you using filtered water in it?
I'm ashamed to confess that I've only ever used tap water and I suspect this might be where it all began to go wrong. It worked fine for a couple of years and then the pressure dropped. It was only then that I realised I should have been running descaler through it regularly, and I did then get it going well again. It ended up needing descaling every couple of weeks, however, until one day, when trying to run descaler through it, it stopped sucking altogether. In the past I also let air get sucked up, so I haven't been a very caring owner. Lesson learnt now, though.0 -

I use a Brita filter and descale every other month with this machine.
London limescale was the cause of death of my Synchrony.0
