creak from front wheel

I just got my first road bike (2000 Giant TCR) and when the wheel reaches a certain point of rotation it creaks. I've ruled out brakes as when the wheel has no weight on it the noise stops. Also, if I rotate the wheel to the point it creaks then apply weight to the front end it creaks. What should I be checking to fix it?

    Are they original (as in 13 year old wheels)? Then its probably jazzed so I'd chuck it in next door's garden and buy some Obermayers.
