Campagnolo Ultrashift repair

Hi folks. Bought a pair of Centaur Ultrashift shifters from a forum member - right shifter faulty. He described the problem as being that the shifter went beyond a point at which it would shift back without physically pulling the cable. Close inspection shows that you can, eg, keep depressing the thumb shifter far enough that when it springs back the ratchet is beyond reach of the pawl.

What I cannot find is a picture of what the back of the shifter should look like but here is mine (shown in a normal position) - what you can hopefully see is that there is a nib to the black plastic disc that looks broken (about 11 o'clock) so presumably I just need a replacement part. I'm assuming that the supposedly broken bit stopped the thumb shifter rotating the ratchet far enough round for it to get out of reach. However, I can't work out how it would have done this. Any confirmation or advice to fix would be appreciated!

Cheers...Rolf

You can take the whole assembly apart (as I did once a good while back). It's a bit tricky getting it re-assembled and you do need a good set of tools for the small parts.

Or you could try these folks:

Looks a bit mangled. You can see what it should look like here:

I'd recommend Velotech if you can't sort it out yourself. They were very helpful in fixing an US lever that I could never get to work properly.

Well, aside from the slight mangliness, I can't see anything obviously wrong. I might query it with Velotech and see what they say. I don't want to just hand it over but I'd like to know what I need to fix it before diving in.

The plan isn't necessarily to do an overhaul on it as it's only done about 6000 miles and is effectively a spare. When the levers currently on the bike need overhauling, I'd swap them over and overhaul the original ones at leisure. So ideally I don't want to dig into the shifter any further than I need to at the moment!

    Taa for this!
