Holiday Help!

Hi guys! I'm trying to organise a mountain biking trip for some friends and I this summer. I wanted some advice on a location. We are all good riders and wanted to go further a field than our local area. We are looking for both single track and downhill trails.
The obvious choice would be somewhere in the alps such as Morzine. The trails look brilliant and there are a huge amount of them. Unfortunately two out of the four have already booked expensive holidays this summer to Australia and therefore can not afford a week in the alps as well. It's not necessarily the price of transport there but the fact that accommodation, lift passes, food etc will all be expensive.
So we have decided to go somewhere in the UK this year and then head to the alps the year after. There are some good looking trail centres around but I'm struggling to find the best ones. So far I especially like the look of Fort William and the World Cup course looks good. Theres also the likes of Glentrees, Coed y Brenin and Grizedale. All of these looks to have some really good trails but my only concern is that they only seem to have a couple of runs and nothing anywhere near the scale of the alps. I'm wondering if there's enough there to do for the entire week?
What do you guys recommend for a week away? Any of these places or have I missed any obvious choices? Anywhere within drive able distance of Surrey is brilliant but we have no problems flying if necessary since prices are very reasonable.
Any help would be appreciated!

Four blokes in a car > Nottingham to Alpe D'Heuz, 10 days riding, travel and accomodation = £300. Food and lift passes on top. Why? Because you can take a lift to the top of a glacier, then spend 3 hours descending through arid rock gardens then grassy meadows, then forests to finish in a beautiful lakeside town.
Fort William is also close to Glencoe, another lift accessed DH trail but it is exceptionally hard - Glencoe makes Fort William cry at night. There is now a 'trail' trail, but I haven't ridden it. Between them is the West Highland Way and the Devils ars#hole... or something like that. I can't remember what it's called. That is good for some natural trails. You're not far from Isle of Skye either though for some really, really, really amazing mountain views. Plot some natural routes on that too. Warning- Fort William itself is the most depressing place on Earth. It's like the trouser stain of Mordor.
Or stay in Pebbles and hit Inners and Glentress which are next door to each other. You could tie in Kielder which has a really great run from the top of the mountain to the bottom. It's not a big place, but I love it.
Or, Go to North Wales for: Snowdon Rangers, Snowdon Llanberis trail, Marin, Penmachno, Antor Stiniog for an uplift day, Coedy, and natural trails around the Penincula.
Or Borrowdale in the Lake District - looooooaaads of very technical natural terrain, but it will be exhausting.0
