Scored the sidewall of my tyre on the Epic on a rock today and the tube is wanting to make an escape so new rubber is required.
At the moment they are Specialzed S-works Captain, been happy with them, they dont drag and roll well, given me enough grip in the snow and mud patches, So do I go with what I like or go for a change?
On the hardtail ive got Panaracer (dunno the model) but they are grippy in the mud and loose stuff and feel confident with them, but by eck they dont half drag and I think they could take some fun out of the Epic for me.
Is there a similar alternative to the Captain's out there?

If they work for you why change?
IMHO half of a tyre's performance is having confidence in them.I don't do smileys.

I have found the Specialized tyres great for grip I did have the captains but changed to Ground Control, but i have split 3 sidewalls on them
They are a nice light tyre but even the sidewalls on the control tyres are thinSpecialized Camber Expert

yeah would have to agree with that, i have the ground control s-works tyre on rear of my bike and thought it was rather thin but luckly it is still in good shape.0
