I've always referred to it as "ask"...as in "ask a question". I learnt at the weekend that it's actually the 3 letters " A S K" and that's how they answer the phone when you make a booking.
Anyone know what ASK stands for? Pretty lame question I know but it's bugging me not be able to find out..my Google-Fu is screwed.

"Pronounced ɑːsk although many people mis-pronounce it as A-S-K"
Does that mean it's called ASK as in ask a question and not just 3 letters? Opposite to what I was told if that's the case. Doh.0 -

We 'rebranded' our department at work recently and the acronym turned out to be ASK. And yes, we had a special place for the first person who called and asked for a take out!0

Signed up to a British forum to advertise a restaurant in NZ on a 4 year old thread. Let's hope his cooking is better than his marketing.0
