Hi, Ive seen a Saracen Havoc up for sale around my area and i have no clue how much it costs. Judging by the sellers rough spec and the pictures, it seems like a fkin expensive bike! Its going for £100!! The bike is fully complete and i really really want it but the trouble is i have to convince my parents to get it for me....thats gonna be bloody hard when i already have precisely 10 bikes in the back garden... I could try and get money by doing up one of my frames and selling it but i dont think the bike is gonna be up for much longer cos the price is so low for what it is. Does anyone have an idea of how much the bike is worth from new and/or how much it realistically should be worth? LOL and anyone have any ideas for me trying to convince my parents into getting it? Much appreciated. Here is the bike.

Wheels are OK, forks quite good, frame is not the best and the shock will be like a pogo stick, it's also about 10-12 years old....personally I wouldn't touch it.

It's an old sack of shit. Weighs a ton, rubbish suspension by modern standards. £100 is probably about right.
  • I could take that down to my skate park and practice jumps on it though. If not i could get it and sell it for parts which will obviously be more than £100. Its got truvativ cranks, stem, bars and all the rest of that shizzle. And the fork looks quite expensive too.

Do you have any tips for convincing my parents?
  • It's an old sack of shoot. Weighs a ton, rubbish suspension by modern standards. £100 is probably about right.

Do you think i could get more than a £100 out of the parts if sell it in bits?

I have one of these in my garage and can confirm it is a heavy frame and the rear shock is very much like a pogo stick.

Only reason I haven't got rid of it is I didn't think anyone would buy it and I haven't been arsed to anything with it. tbh the frame and shock isn't worth a tenner so depends on what the rest of the spec is like.
  • This is all thats listed in the add in terms of spec:

    saracenn jump bike for sale
    disk breaks
    drop off pump up forks
    truvativ cranks
    dp2000 rims
    shimano gears
    shimanohubs
    truvativ stem and handle bars

Theres this picture aswell that i couldnt add in the original post cos your only allowed 3 attachments.

If your lucky you might just scrape £100 for parts. If you want it for jumps at the park then why not get a jump bike? You might get something reasonable for £100 and on a jump bike rear suspension is a very bad thing. Look for a P series Specialized. Rigid forks are better than rubbish suspension forks for jumping.

Why would you want an overweight FS for jumping, jump bikes for that use are HT for a reason!

Tips for convincing the parents, not needed, we only need to convince you!

Yes you probably would make £100 from the bits....

A smaller number of better bikes, is better than a larger number of less good bikes - honest!

I dont have anything thats good enough to jump with at the moment, all of my bikes are road bikes or mountain to road bike conversions. and they all need work to be done to them and/or spares D: I have a GT thats fully functional but its fully rigid and is set up to be a commuter. I need new tyres for that anyway, so i was thinking that this saracen would be my best bet. Maybe i could wait until i find a job or gather enough money for something like a 2nd hand DMR frame or one of those speshes you were talking about.

So basically i have nothing to jump with and im not looking to spend too much as my parents wont allow it. What do you think i should do? wait and get something better thats more expensive or get this. Bearing in mind i have never actually jumped before, so im a noob.

    You need to ask GT-Arrowhead.

You really don't want a full suspension bike for jumping, especially one with a really bad rear shock which will kick back off jumps sending you in to the ground on your face.
If you want a bike to learn to jump then get a jump bike or a BMX. A BMX will be loads better than that Saracen turd for learning to jump.

Judging by your forum signature I'm not sure you need any more bikes
  • or put it this way, if that saracen was for sale today it would come out of halfords with a trax sticker on it

seriously OP if you want to do jumps get a jump bike, that bike is not for you. If you were local you could take mine but it would cost more to post than it is worth.

Thats not a BMX, it looks a bit like one but it's not one.
This is a proper BMX and this is what you can do with one:

  • Its probably too heavy to get off the ground!

Why dont you sell some of your other bikes and get something reasonable?

    +1..

A GT Chucker or Scott Voltage YZ make good starter jump bikes, but the forks and then wheels will need beefing up quite soon.

Hahaha :D And yeah thats my plan, but i cant get into doing it at the moment because i have GCSEs coming up so i cant waste time rebuilding them and repairing them, they are all in pieces.
  • So youre too busy to go jumping on the bike too then! :) im hearing excuses here!

LOL what do you mean? how can this be a troll
  • Because your logic doesn't really hold up and you don't make much sense.

Why not just jump the bmx you have?

    1. I didnt even know that FS bikes are rubbish at jumping. I said im a noob. I have never jumped before.
    2. I assumed it was good by looking at the spec and the pictures
    3. I will in the summer but id prefer to have a jump bike/full susser because i can use that for other purposes too. I can ride it like a normal bike. BMX is slow and it gives a kind of "chavy" impression if i ride it to school and what not. Im probably gonna look to sell the BMX anyway since i dont use it much.
    4. I still considered buying this because i can use the parts to add to a better frame that i could possibly get in the future instead of buying all the parts. Cos its cheaper.

There are no parts on that worth putting on a better frame. Those forks are the 2008 self destructing Marzocchi Bombers, if they aren't already fooked they soon will be.
