So this crack has been there for at least 5 or 6 months now, have been keeping an eye on it. Running my finger over it there isn't much to feel, so I'm not sure if it is just in the paint.

However I really don't like the idea of a fork giving way below me whilst riding. Any advice anyone can give me?

Is it one crack or is there another in the other leg?

Cracks tend to start small then get longer. Has it got any longer over the 5-6 months or has it been the same length?

There is just the one crack, I think it has stayed the same, but I can't say 100%.

Key is the construction of the fork - is it full carbon or does it have a metal steerer? Probably due to thick paint under the crown rather than a problem with the fork as often the crown is the strongest part of the fork.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Are you the original owner? Get as good a photo as you can, talk to the manufacturer. There seems little to lose, and also the last thing you want is it failing on you.

  • If they are no help PM me and I'll give you a hand. 90% of the time 'damage' like that turns out to be nothing but if your worried its better to KNOW its nothing.
