I was originally going to ride for Leukemia & Lymphoma Research if I got in on the ballot.
I have riden their London Bikeathon several times and wanted an 'Unstoppable' jersey lol.
When i looked into it after not getting in on the ballot, they were one of the charities that seemed to be 'auctioning' off the places to the highest bidders, so went with BHF.0 -
I got my place through the Alzheimers charity less than a week after the ballot closed. It was via a link on Facebook, and was phrased as “Click here for a chance to participate in the RideLondon 100”. I noticed the requirement to raise £750 sponsorship but thought I’ll face that challenge if I get in, so filled in the forms and paid the entry fee (think it was around £50) and then instantly I was in. Anyone want to sponsor me?!
I am really excited about the ride, trying to train hard but the weather at the moment is not helping. I’ll be happy to get in under 7 hours but secretly want to be nearer 6.
I don’t want to have to go up there to pick up the number etc the day before, but guess I’ll have to. I suppose most sportives don’t have to post numbers to around 20000 people, the postage and admin would be horrendous.
Was planning on parking in the Dagenham area and riding in for the start but that might be difficult.0 -
Makes my £500 target look easy
Good luck with the fundraising. Do you think you will end up getting that much, fall short or have to make up the difference?
I am on target for about half of mine, so its getting less expensive a day out now0 -
Hmmm...raised 20 quid so far! I have emailed the charity and asked what happens if I can't raise the pledged amount. Paying it myself is not really an option (especially if the missus finds out!). Will ask my work if they want to make a charity contribution and I know a couple of senior people at other firms so that could be helpful.0

My brother in law has a place and has to raise £500, his step Dad was offered a place with a charity, he paid his money and then last week they emailed to say they cocked up and be didn't have a place, among with quite a few other people!
He's tried loads of charities, but so far they are all full.
To top it off, the original charity didn't want to refund his money0 -

 Fcuk! Good luck with the big donations then
Mrs has OK'd about £300 of our own money but I am now hoping to get it down to about £200.
I have/am giving up booze for 6 months so its not really going to cost anything in one sense, and I will feel that I have done my years charitable donations!
If you see a guy being driven away from the event drinking one tin of Bud, with another ready in the other hand.... thats probably me0 -
