Hi Chaps,

I am riding in and around the region of Cattolica on the Adriatic/Med coast of Italy. My question is what sort of terrain should I expect, should I look to move away from a 12-25 cassette (50/34 compact up front)? should I consider putting a 13-26 in my case?

I'm pretty fit, rode LBL sportive last year, and commute about 35miles everyday. Have no probs riding a ton.

I have been in that area quite a few times, last time about 5 years ago when I was 61. Managed OK on a compact with 12-25 cassette. It can be hilly but nothing really severe. I would think you would def' be OK with that set up.
I wish I was going back there again. Maybe one day.
  • 12-25 to 13-26 is a very small change that you may struggle to notice.

I don't know that area, but if there are hills >6% and you aren't super fit, then maybe consider a 28-12.
  • Keep the 12-25, you'll be fine.
