    I did appreciate the occasional opportunity to coast down a long downhill today.

    Simple, it's flat in London! I wouldn't make a habit of using fixed in the Surrey Hills but every now and then it's great fun. The other 99% of my miles are on the flats with a few bumps where it excels.

    I suppose that didn't occur to me. I live just outside the hilly Yorkshire Dales and everywhere is either uphill or downhill round here. We don't really have any properly flat bits.

    I'd love a go on a fixie just out of curiosity but the hills are presumably why they are a very rare sight around here.
