What is it with prices of MTB kit at the moment. Just been looking for some new shoes for when summer arrives. I liked the look of the Specialized Rimes till I saw the price £140  Did a bit of research and the mrp in dollars $175 using Google thats £112.75 at current exchange rates. I know exchange rates go up and down but for the last year its been hovering around the $1.60 to $1.55 to the £. Its almost as bad when you do the price in Euros list price €139.90 which comes out at £120.48.
Who is doing us over is it the manufacturer, the importer or the retailer I get the feeling its all of them lining up to screw us over.

Not sure if all the taxes are a bit more over here, ie our VAT.0

does that $ price include sales tax?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Our VAT is one of the Lower ones in Europe,
For example DK 25%0 -
It doesn't include sales tax - for California (as a random example) they cost over $188 with tax from the first online shop I tried - which brings the price to over £120.
As has been said - VAT is reasonably high (20%) while CA sales tax is 7.5 - 10% depending on what it is. So if you doubled the US tax to make it equivalent then the price is over USD£200 - ie within a tenner of the UK price.0 -
There are no duties on anything imported from within the EU. That's why it's called the EU.I don't do smileys.
