Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to the whole mountain biking thing and I'm in the market for my first 'proper' bike. I've got a budget of about £500-800 through the cycle to work scheme (not one that includes halfords but my local shop sells most brands). I've done a bit of looking and come up with a few names. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm undecided between -
rockrider 8.1
rockrider 9.1

but i am very open to suggestions
I'll be going about 50/50 on roads and some offroad stuff in the local woods/ maybe further afield in future.
thanks in advance

  • why couldn't this go in your other thread?
  • is your local shop decathlon? otherwise you may struggle to get the rockrider

it's not, but I could get to a decathlon shop without any trouble.
  • As you know they are both good bikes for the money. Your decision is whether you want full suss or hardtail.

For the type of riding you describe I would have thought a hardtail may suit you better, but have a read around the subject and see what you think.
